Mitt Romney In The Second Debate: 'I'll Get It Done! I'll Do It [Amnesty] Next Year!' After Accusing Obama Of Not Passing 'Comprehensive Immigration Reform' In The Last Four Years
by Dave Levine
Romney's performance was "pure snake oil" from beginning to end. He didn't sell me or the Peanut Gallery watching the debate with me. He did utter one half-truth--he admitted that The Republican Party has been "pro-big business for too long", to try and convince average Americans that he's not pro-big business, that he's "one of them". The truth of course is that the GOP is controlled by the Chamber of Horrors and BigAg. It is most definitely pro-big business and that is never going to change no matter WHAT Romney says!
Fellow law and order Conservative columnists and bloggers have been BEGGING for illegal immigration to be brought up in this debate and sure enough, it was but NOT by moderator Candy Crowley and not by Romney or by a selected guest in the audience. Soetoro-Obama brought it up on his own in what I have to say was a brilliant move. Romney jumped into it, stating that Soetoro-Obama "had four years to pass comprehensive immigration but couldn't get it done", repeating his earlier attack on Soetoro-Obama in the media following [Soetoro-Obama's] illegal Executive DREAM Act Amnesty, thus showing Romney's support for Amnesty even though he denied in the same breath in this debate that he supports it! And we all know that "comprehensive immigration reform" is--it's the Democrats' and RINOs' buzz phrase for Amnesty.
In a further brilliant move, Soetoro-Obama also skewered Romney on Kris Kobach being 1070's co-author and Romney's Immigration Advisor. Kobach is the Latino voters' "bogey man"; the left hates him because he's brilliant and good looking and a future political star. Soetoro-Obama was playing to Latino voters and if they were watching and could understand this, he probably will win 68% of them again on Election Day. At first, I thought it was an attempt to lure Romney out in defense of Kobach but Romney stayed silent on that one. Soetoro-Obama knew that Romney couldn't very well DEFEND Kobach without risking losing the Latino vote, something the GOP has been trying to "cultivate" since Romney's January "self-deport" effort was stopped by a John McCain phone call.
What's ironic is Kobach would NEVER approve Amnesty in ANY form and thus couldn't possibly be Romney's Immigration Advisor (a position Kobach has denied that he is and one the Romney Campaign has also denied) for if he WAS his actual advisor, Romney wouldn't be planning Amnesty for his first year as President!
But what blew me away was when Romney repeated his oft-given line, "You can't round up 11 million people and I won't as President!" There was a hush over the room. You could have heard a pin drop. Why? Our possible next President stating before the Election on national tv in front of millions of voters THAT HE WOULD NOT ENFORCE FEDERAL LAW IF ELECTED! AND IF HE ISN'T GOING TO ALLOW ICE AGENTS TO ARREST AND DEPORT ILLEGALS AND HE'S NOW BALKING AT "SELF-DEPORTATION" (WHICH HE SEEMS TO HAVE GIVEN UP ON), THEN THAT MEANS AMNESTY--GIVING THESE MILLIONS OF ILLEGALS GREEN CARDS (WHICH IS ILLEGAL UNLESS IT IS PASSED AS AN AMNESTY THRU CONGRESS) OR SIMPLY ALLOWING THE ILLEGALS TO STAY WITHOUT ARRESTING AND DEPORTING THEM WHICH IS DE FACTO AMNESTY--THERE AREN'T ANY OTHER OPTIONS!
Then, even more amazingly, Romney walked right into the buzzsaw as the discussion was about to change to another topic, shouting over Soetoro-Obama, "I'll get it done! I'll do it next year!" meaning Amnesty as Soetoro-Obama was trying to explain why he didn't get it passed!
Romney has now--IN FRONT OF THE NATION--TOLD US HE'LL PUSH THRU AMNESTY NEXT YEAR (as I've reported now for months but nobody was listening) via his Grand Amnesty-Guestworker Plan.
Conservatives have a clear choice--stay home, vote third party or write-in someone else's name.
Is there ANY question now that Mitt Romney is completely unacceptable as President? Hmm?
