Pac-12 Officials Bought And Paid For And Destroying The Game
(by Dave Levine)
I used to love college football. But sadly, those running it have decided to penalize defensive backs and safeties for what were previously clean hits on receivers. It's gotten SO bad that now, players like UNLV's outstanding safety's hit to a UCLA receiver that knocked the UNLV player's helmet off ARE BEING EJECTED from the game ALONG WITH THE PENALTY!
In that UCLA vs UNLV game, the refs "gave" the game to UCLA on that call. The hit made the catch an incompleted pass. Instead, UCLA got the ball in the red zone with a first down leading by just a touchdown. Had an incomplete pass been called, UNLV would have received a punt.
If I was a UNLV fan, I'd have been livid! I just want to see a well-officiated game and a well-officiated game is one where the refs STAY OUT as much as possible!
Defensive players are taught to hit and knock the ball loose. They shouldn't be penalized and ejected for clean, hard hits as long as they don't hit the receiver's head.
