Romney Auditions 8 VP Hopefuls Who Stump For Him (my version of title by Paul Bedard at washingtonexaminer.com)

Bedard seems confident it won't be Rice and says liberal pundit Larry Sabato slammed Drudge for pushing Rice:

***********************************************************

In the rankings of who matters in the vice presidential race, Larry
Sabato, who heads the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia,
only Jindal, Rubio, Portman, Pawlenty and Ryan count.

In his latest Crystal Ball, [Sabato] seemed to dismiss others down the list, and took a shot at the Drudge Report for playing up the possibility that former Secretary of State Condi Rice is in contention.

His review of the second tier:

Sen. Kelly Ayotte (NH): Sarah Palin’s experience may make it difficult for Romney to choose a woman this cycle.

Former Gov. Jeb Bush (FL): Wrong last name. He wasn’t interested, and the sentiment was apparently returned.

Gov. Chris Christie (NJ): One boardwalk confrontation too many.

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee (AR): We’re confident that his Fox TV show pays better than VP.

Gov. Bob McDonnell (VA): Have we ever mentioned transvaginal ultrasounds? Also: He’s too busy saving prestigious universities.

Sen. John Thune (SD): In the boring, competent white guy department, Thune places well but is trumped by Pawlenty and Portman.

P.S. We took former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice off our list
last month, and others should have too — Drudge, this means you.

NOTE: Sabato's a flaming liberal who hates Conservatives, so naturally he doesn't want Romney to pick one. All of Sabato's and Bedard's "First Tier" pols are RINOs. Jindal is an agent for H-1B visa'd India workers flooding the U.S. and taking American white collar jobs, plus he's ineligible as both his parents were aliens before he was born here. Rubio (ad nauseum) in ineligible for the same reason plus he's also a pro-Amnesty pol who hates 1070 and wants illegal immigration to continue. Portman has "Bush baggage" and is a RINO, not a Conservative. Ryan is a faux conservative and a Bushie. Pawlenty quit as Governor of Minnesota in midterm for a failed run for President, leaving the Governor's mansion open for uber-liberal Mark Dayton to take over, keeping Minnesota from becoming a red state. Dayton's been a disaster for that state and this can and must be laid at Pawlenty's feet.

Romney's only chance of winning in the Show's opinion is to pick a real Conservative or a law-and-order Republican who is eligible (Gov. Haley sadly is not)--Sen. DeMint, Gov. Jan Brewer (Brewer isn't a Conservative but she's a law-and-order Repub) or Sheriff Joe Arpaio. DeMint wouldn't energize the left, so he would be the safest of the three.
